Twelve months ago, I was stuck, unable to change the situation I found myself in.
I’ve written previously about my journey as a self-employed film-maker, my work behind the scenes with Dads4Kids since 2002, and how, largely thanks to the Men’s Leadership Summit, 2018 was a breakthrough year for me.
From 2018, thanks to great community around me and support from our excellent Dads4Kids Board, I became more actively involved with Dads4Kids. I can see now that God, my Father in Heaven, was ordering my steps, even though I didn’t fully understand it at the time. The words found in Psalm 37:23, penned around 3,000 years ago, were, and continue to be, a great encouragement, ‘The steps of a good man are ordered by the Lord, And He delights in his way.’ (NKJV)
For the last 18 months or so, my faithful parents (Dads4Kids founders Warwick and Alison Marsh), the Board and I were working towards transitioning the leadership of Dads4Kids. The plan was for Dad and Mum to step down from the Board, and for me to step up into the CEO role. I was excited, everyone within and outside Dads4Kids was super supportive, but still it felt like the process wasn’t moving forward. Dad and I weren’t communicating well, and the last thing we wanted was to jeopardise our relationship.
Dad and I are similar in many ways. We’re both glass-half-full guys, which is great, but it means we need realists around to ground us. We’re also both quite stubborn, which means we have staying power, but twelve months ago, this combination was causing some stuckness. In short, we needed some expert help.
I knew of Andrew Gray through a family connection. He has a fantastic YouTube channel encouraging men, two excellent newsletters (click here and here), and operates a personal development and leadership consulting business. Also, Dad knew and had worked with Andrew’s father, Pastor Adrian Gray. We’d been following Andrew’s work on YouTube (make sure you subscribe if you haven’t already) and had locked him in to speak at Dads4Kids Men’s Leadership Summit.
Check out Andrew’s Session on ‘The Power to Stand’ from our 2025 Men’s Leadership Summit. He’s an inspiring communicator and has been such an encouragement that we’ve locked him in for next years Men’s Leadership Summit at Stanwell Tops NSW, 28–30 August 2026 (more details coming soon).
With a passion for original masculinity, and as someone who had transitioned into and out of key leadership roles, including within a familial context, Andrew was the perfect fit to help Dads4Kids. One thing led to another, and in late 2024, Andrew started working with Dad, Mum, myself and the Dads4Kids board to get me unstuck. God was indeed ordering my steps!
It has been an absolute pleasure working with Andrew. He’s a straight-shooter and has no problems graciously calling things out, which was needed in our context. He’s also an absolute gentleman and, through many meetings with Dad, Mum, myself, and Dads4Kids Board Members, both individually and as groups, has diligently worked with us for what will end up being a very fruitful 12-month process.
Andrew asked pertinent questions, listened intently, and tapped into his vast experience to help me get unstuck, get growing, and get upgraded. He has a way of getting to the crux of an issue, and I’ll be forever grateful for his wisdom and counsel.
Today, I’m honoured to introduce Andrew Gray’s True Self Transformation Program – watch the video to find out more:
In one of Andrew’s recent Everyday Mentor Newsletters, he wrote:
I have observed in nearly all people, a normal desire for an upgraded life. There is nothing wrong with this ambition. It’s a good thing. Some people desire an upgraded vocational life, or an upgraded relational life, or an upgrade to their holistic health. Whatever the goal is, it’s important to understand that there is a process involved.
So many people try to get ‘upgraded’ by beginning with an attempt to get upgraded. This is the wrong approach and usually fails. When repeated, these failures lead to frustration, and eventually giving up and settling for a sub-standard level of living life is the result.
However, the reason most people fail to experience upgrade is not because they aren’t capable. Not at all. It’s usually because they fail to understand there is a necessary process to engage with.
You see, Upgrade is preceded by Personal Growth.
If you want to get Upgraded, you have to get Growing.
Personal Growth is preceded by Getting Unstuck.
If you want to Get Growing, you first have to Get Unstuck.
As someone who has worked with Andrew and experienced getting unstuck firsthand, I couldn’t agree more.
If you’re wanting to get unstuck, get growing, get upgraded, or a combination of all three, I encourage you to check out Andrew’s True Self-Transformation Program. He’s very kindly knocking $500 off the usual program price for all Dads4Kids subscribers (use this link to get your discount), and will also generously donate $500 directly to Dads4Kids for every registration!

Commit yourself to continual learning and growth. I’m so thankful and grateful for the people around me: my family, friends, the Dads4Kids Board, and professional mentors like Andrew Gray, who help me to be a better person. It’s an ongoing process, one that should continue until the day we leave the planet. My prayer is that we all continue working towards being the best we can be.
Yours for getting unstuck, getting growing, and getting upgraded,
Nathaniel Marsh
